IU Folklore Archives

The Folklore Archives is an extensive holding of documents and collections, mostly in paper formats, centered on traditional forms of artistic expression and traditional belief systems, worldwide in scope but with a primary emphasis on the Midwest of the United States and specifically the state of Indiana. These holdings bear an intimate relationship to Indiana University, featuring field collections by generations of IU graduate and undergraduate students. The time depth stretches back to the late 1940s, but the archive is strongest from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s.
